Hollymount School - Worcester
Carpets for schools, universities and colleges need to be hardwearing and cost effective. In particular, the main corridor in any educational establishment and indeed in many public buildings is subjected to heavy traffic and needs to remain in great condition.
Mercian Carpets and Flooring Limited collaborated with the Principle at Hollymount Primary School, Worcester, choosing a floor covering that is contemporary and hard wearing that delivers the visual impact the school was looking for.
450sq metres of Joseph Hamilton & Seaton – Ballantrae Plus sheet carpet is now fitted to the main corridors. The product is made with the latest tufting and fibre technology to ensure the highest performance in areas where heavy traffic is the norm.
Mercian Carpets & Flooring Ltd collaborated with the Principal and Site Manager at Hollymount School, Worcester, to choose a floor covering which was contemporary and hard wearing whilst delivering the visual impact the school was looking for.
It was fitted in time for the beginning of the new term with a minimum amount of disruption. On completion of the work the Principal said “We would certainly use Mercian Carpets & Flooring Ltd again in the future.”
St. Georges Hall - Bewdley
The contract to refurbish the main hall floor and install new floor coverings at St.Georges Hall, Bewdley was awarded by The Harper Group.
In high traffic areas, the client (Bewdley Development Trust) chose hard wearing, Heckmondwike Montage carpet tiles. The staircase was installed with the same tiles finished with Quantum nosings and high visibility safety inserts.
The service area and café floor was covered with Altro and Tarkett safety sheet vinyl. The modern and contemporary appearance is a contrast to the character of the finished refurbishment. The tiles balance safety with style.
In the main hall, the original timber floor was restored to its former glory with specialist products from the Bona range of flooring cleaning and wood finishes.
Mercian House Dental Practice - Stourport
As part of a major refurbishment to this Stourport-on-Severn dental practice, Dr. Jugminder Sanghera, Principal Dentist at Mercian House Dental Practice, approached local flooring supplier Mercian Carpets & Flooring Limited. The existing floor covering was a worn and tired looking carpet, not a suitable material for a dental practice or for the contemporary image and appearance that Dr. Sanghera and his team wanted.
During the initial consultation, a range of suitable options was considered including wood, ceramic and vinyl effect sheeting. After much deliberation, Dr. Sanghera and Andy Youngjohns, Managing Director at Mercian Carpets & Flooring Limited agreed that a luxury vinyl tile from the Karndean collection would be appropriate. The final decision was a team effort and everyone's preferred choice was Classic Limed Oak from the Knight range of vinyl tiles.
Karndean, one of the World's leading manufacturers of floor coverings describes this product and finish as having subtle copper tones and a limed finish. The Classic Limed Oak planks have a soft texture to replicate their distinctive grain pattern. A fitting flooring material for this prestigious dental practice. It is moisture tolerant, easy to clean and maintain as well as being extremely durable and quiet under foot.
Andy Youngjohns went on to explain, "Initially we had some concerns with the sub-floor. It was extremely uneven and unstable. We overcame these issues by installing a combination of ply board and fibre re-enforced screed which is a fast curing material manufactured by Ardex UK.
We managed to refurbish the sub-floor and lay 65 sqM of vinyl tiles over the course of a weekend. So the practice was open on Monday morning. Their day-to-day activities were not disrupted and their patients were not inconvenienced."
The Granary Hotel - Shenstone - Kidderminster
The Granary Hotel is one of Worcestershire's most prestigious, privately owned, 3-star establishments. First opened in 1978 and now with a 2AA Rosette for its award winning Restaurant, the owners are committed to continual investment, upgrading and improvements.
Like all the best development projects, the management started from the ground up. In 2015, the conference and wedding facilities received special attention to give their customers an exceptional experience that is fundamental to the ethos of the hotel.
Mercian Carpets and Flooring Limited collaborated with the owners choosing a floor covering that was up to date and hard wearing that delivered the visual impact the hotel was looking for.
The final choice was 'Surface' from the Burmatex range of carpet tiles, created to coordinate beautifully with any commercial or hospitality interior scheme. The textured appearance, inspired by architectural exteriors and facades, creates a feeling of dimension and depth in a practical, textured loop, floor covering. This hardwearing, versatile and great value product was fitted to an area of 250 sq. M.
Eureka Financial Solutions - Stourport
We were invited back by the owners of Eureka Financial Solutions in Stourport on Severn to carry out the refurbishment of the floorcoverings to the new premises s situated on three floors including the staircases.
They required a practical flooring solution for all the different areas of the building. It was important to Eureka to ensure that although the Old Inspectors House is an old building with lots of character, they incorporated a contemporary feel that was aesthetically pleasing for both staff and clients.
Karndean Van Gogh range was installed throughout the entrance and kitchen hallway & wet areas in a Grey tone leading onto the main offices where we installed a mixture of Burmatex Capet tiles and Lano Scala in shades of blue, this carried on up the stairways and into the remaining offices. The Scala range was perfect for retaining the balance of a contract carpet but with a residential look to it.
The overall visual impact was stunning and the whole installation in collaboration with the onsite Project Management – “the owners themselves,” builder’s, etc. went exactly to plan.
